Curriculum
Students in Engineering Lab use the Engineering Process to help them solve engineering problems. The process includes five components:
- Ask questions to the problem
- Imagine some ways to solve the problem
- Make a plan to follow to try out one solution
- Create a solution and test it out
- Improve upon the problems is solved the best it can be
Each Grade level focuses on different types of engineering.
Kindergarten: Weather and designing ways to measure and record the weather, designing fabrics and ways to clean them
Second Grade: Designing ways to balance objects, designing and building strong bridges, building windmills designed to lift a heavy load
Fourth Grade: Designing and building submersibles, designing and building a lighting system, designing and building systems to disrupt flooding
Fifth Grade: Designing tests for identifying chemicals, designing and building simple machines, designing and building solar powered homes
